[1B09]Lanthanum-based MOF catalyst for esterification of levulinic acid

5 different La-MOFs were synthesized using various amine-modulators assisting hydrothermal method. The catalytic activity of the synthesized MOFs was employed in the conversion of levulinic acid to methyl and ethyl levulinates. Among the synthesized catalyst, La-MOF synthesized using 1,4-diazabicyclo[2.2.2]octane modulator showed nice yield of 93% for ethyl levulinate and 87% for methyl levulinate under optimized reaction condition. This work paves the way for biodiesel production using milder and more environmentally friendly methods.
