To handle large volumes of data information with lower power consumption, the use of artificial intelligence (AI) such as neural networks has become focused, and especially photonic reservoir computing (RC) has become spotlighted due to high-speed and robust processing with low power consumption and rather simple structures. The new approaches have been to implement multimode waveguides (MM-WG) for spatial and temporal nodes by mode dispersion, resulting in the speckle pattern modulation. The more effective method of temporal node extension is the implementation of feedback loop structures. This work demonstrates experimental results of the combined configuration of a silicon MM-WG and a loop structure together with fan-out WGs that enables output of higher-order modes with low loss.
