In this work, the main objective is to enhance the gas sensing performance by incorporating aluminum (Al) from different chemical compositions with the ZnO nanoparticles (NPs) via pulsed laser ablation in liquid (PLAL). The controlled parameters during PLAL were 532 nm wavelength, 450 mW laser output power, 30–60 degree centigrade liquid temperature, and ablation for 30 minutes. The influence of Al doping on the structure, sizing, optical properties, and elemental composition was investigated using X-ray diffraction (XRD) measurements, photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy, UV-vis spectroscopy, and FESEM-energy-dispersive X-ray (EDX) spectroscopy. The sensing studies revealed that the size of the particles largely influences the gas-sensing performance.
