Recently, we have examined the resonant effect of vibrational transition on the optical force exerted on microspheres with a mid-infrared (mid-IR) laser. We successfully sorted and performed optical force chromatography on siloxane group microspheres based on the absorbance at 9.3 μm (1075 cm-1), which is attributed to the vibrational mode of siloxane bonds. Based on these findings, here, we proposed an optical force spectroscopy that a mid-IR spectrum of single microspheres can be reconstructed from the optical force exerted on the microspheres. In this work, we extend our previous work by using a tunable mid-IR laser to investigate the impact of molecular vibrational resonance on optical forces across different wavenumbers.
