In this study, encapsulant-less crystalline-silicon PV modules for vertical applications incorporating novel holding structures were subjected to random vibration tests based on JIS Z 0200:2023 (2-200 Hz for 90 minutes) to determine if the module base design can suppress vibrational stress from transportation.
Results showed a difference of 1.32% between our modules’ root mean square acceleration (grms) from the JIS Z0200 standard. Electroluminescence imaging and I–V curve measurements pre-and post-vibration tests show no significant performance loss nor physical damage. This validates the feasibility of our design in suppressing vibration stress for full-size single-cell modules.
