Landau polaritons form when cavity photons strongly couple, or hybridize, with the cyclotron resonance of a two-dimensional electron gas (2DEG) in a strong perpendicular magnetic field. Recently, some nonlocal (i.e., k ≠ 0 where k is the in-plane wave vector of matter excitation) aspects of them have been studied in the ultrastrong coupling regime where the Rabi frequency becomes a significant fraction of the bare frequencies of light and matter, enabled by small-mode-volume plasmonic cavities. However, their connections to local phenomena remain elusive. Here, we report various nonlocal features of Landau polaritons in nanoslots, including observation of coupling between local and nonlocal matter excitations.
