This study investigates long-term flood resilience in the Chao Phraya River Basin, Thailand, through a socio-hydrological analysis of 76 historical Buddhist temples. Field surveys quantified architectural elevation parameters, including total elevation from surrounding area (H1), foundation elevation of important structure (H2), and overall temple ground elevation (H3). These data were integrated with Rainfall-Runoff-Inundation (RRI) model simulations under multiple flood return periods. Results show that most temples maintained functional resilience against 20-year return period floods, indicating that architectural elevation contributed significantly to flood adaptation. A significant positive correlation (r≈0.686) between flood exposure and temple elevation demonstrates that temple configurations were systematically calibrated to local hydrological conditions. Distinct regional adaptation strategies were also identified across upstream, midstream, and downstream areas. The findings highlight historical religious structures as materialized archives of flood memory and provide a novel interdisciplinary perspective for socio-hydrological research.
