In order to produce tritium for first generation fusion reactor, we are considering a T production method using a high-temperature gas reactor. To add the T production function without affecting the original reactor performance, we are planning to confine the produced T within Li loading rods. We are planning to fill Zr spheres inside Li loading rods to reduce T pressure. So far, we have measured good hydrogen absorption properties of Zr spheres under hydrogen pressure of about 800 Pa. In this study, under hydrogen pressure of 80–8000 Pa, hydrogen absorption experiment using Zr spheres is conducted and hydrogen absorption properties of Zr spheres are measured.
