Fuel rods in BWR (Boiling Water Reactor) are cooled by a liquid film on those surfaces. The complete loss of the liquid film on the fuel rods of BWR which is called "liquid film dryout" leads to the occurrence of burnout in the heat transfer surfaces. Therefore, the accurate prediction of the dryout point is very important for the reactor safety design. This presentation will focus on the droplet entrainment rate measurement results and then the droplet entrainment rate correlations have been developed in order to accurately predict the dryout point.
