【ハイライト講演】層孔虫はシルル紀とデボン紀で生物礁の主要な形成者であり,後期デボン紀の絶滅事変で大ダメージを受けたが,その後の石炭紀ではその存在や造礁作用についてほとんど理解されていない.本講演では,石炭紀に形成された秋吉石灰岩層群において,層孔虫が生物礁を形成し,その後別の造礁性生物にとって代わられたことを明らかにしている.孤立した海洋島が,層孔虫にとっての一時的な“refugia”であった可能性がある.(ハイライト講演とは...)
