Global mapping of sea ice production derived from satellite observation and its application to the research on global ocean system

During this talk, I will show the global mapping of sea ice production derived from satellite data using ”sea ice thickness algorithm” specifically developed for estimating sea ice production. In addition, I will also introduce the research of the basal melting process of glaciers, which has been found that the offshore Totten Glacier is important as a melt-promoting zone in East Antarctica.

World renowned scientists will present a series of Special Lectures in Earth and planetary sciences for students and early-career researchers across disciplines during lunch breaks of the Meeting.<br />This year's lectures are the winners of the 5th Nishida Award.
