Kyoto Prefectural Tango Eco-Future Park (hereinafter referred to as “Eco-Park) is building a sustainable system by cutting down trees which are matured enough to be cut for forest maintenance in the Eco-Park. The wood is then used to heat the bathhouse in the park along with a solar heating system. In this study, we researched the timber volume in a certain section of forest in the Eco-Park and tried to determine how much annual consumption of firewood in the park accounted for the timber volume. From this study’s findings, we think we can build sustainable environment maintenance system in other forests similar to Eco-Park.
