The drama “Sora-wataru Kyoushitsu” tells the story of a year in the life of a science club formed at a night high school. The story of a group of students of various ages and backgrounds who work together with their advisor, a former researcher, to experiment with craters on Mars, and their growth and development, drew a great deal of attention. This work, which confronts head-on the theme of science, a subject that is often shunned, has received high acclaim from all quarters.One of the reasons for the favorable reception was that the experiments in the drama were “accessible science,” as typified by kitchen earth science. Another major factor was the sincere attitude toward science of the producers and other production staff. In this presentation, I will show how I, the original author, was involved in the dramatization process and what kind of reactions I received from the audience and the publishing world.
