[O05-P08]Difference in the time of occurrence of earthquakes in the tales similar to each other on Kyoto during the Edo period★Invited Papers

Kyoto has suffered historical earthquakes many times in the past. If we focus around on the Edo period, for example, we can mention the 1596 Keicho Fushimi Earthquake, the 1662 Kanbun Earthquake, and the 1830 Bunsei Kyoto Earthquake. These earthquakes have caused great damage to the city.
By the way, there exist similar tales related to earthquakes in Kyoto. In the tales, the main character is a fortune-teller "Yomoichi", a blind man living in Kyoto. The man was skilled at predicting the fortunes of people. One day, he sensed something unusual and predicted the disaster at Kyoto. He went to a place where he could feel relaxed, and an earthquake actually struck, but he died. The context is that while he could know people's fortunes, he could not know his own fate. The similar tales appear in books like “Jishinko” published after the 1830 Bunsei Kyoto Earthquake and “Ansei Kenbunroku” published after the 1855 Ansei Edo Earthquake.
In this study, we collect the tales and investigate them from the point of the time of occurence of historical earthquakes that actually struck Kyoto.
