The massive tremors that take place on Earth also take place on other planets like Mars and on our very own moon. These tremors are known as marsquakes and moonquakes respectively. Marsquakes have a lot of evidence which prove that they are natural and exist. This is mainly due to the data gathered by NASA’s InSight lander, which detected this seismic activity and helped us understand Mars’ interior. Moonquakes, on the other hand, have very little evidence and carry a lot of uncertainty. But what truly is the difference between our earthquakes, marsquakes and moonquakes? Are Mars and the moon techtonically and seismically active? How does this help us understand Mars and the moon like we’ve never before? A lot of this can be figured out by the Apollo, Chandrayaan and InSight missions, which will help researchers explore the geophysical properties of Mars and the moon.
