Geoscience funding is shifting as climate risks intensify and societies demand actionable, trustworthy information. From the Chinese Geoscience Union in Taiwan (TCGU) perspective, future funding should couple scientific excellence with mission-driven impact by prioritizing: (1) sustained long-term observations and open, interoperable data; (2) next-generation Earth system modeling and AI-enabled workflows that improve process understanding and uncertainty quantification; and (3) transdisciplinary research co-designed with stakeholders to strengthen resilience to climate and multi-hazard extremes. We also emphasize international collaboration, shared testbeds, coordinated experiments, and talent exchange, as essential to accelerate innovation and amplify regional-to-global contributions from Taiwan and the Asia–Pacific.
