Global geoscience research faces uncertainty driven by reductions in U.S. federal science budgets, political polarization, and fluctuating commitments to climate leadership. These changes reverberate internationally, disrupting long standing collaborations, data sharing networks, satellite missions, and joint field programs. In response, geoscientists worldwide are increasingly turning to diversified funding models, deeper partnerships with Europe and Asia, and cross sector collaboration with health, security, and private sector entities. At the same time, emerging ethical frameworks and community science initiatives are reshaping research directions to emphasize transparency, equity, and societal relevance. As nations reassess priorities, the future of geosciences will depend on stable investment, open science, and sustained international cooperation to address global challenges such as climate adaptation, natural hazards, and environmental resilience. Here, we present several global transdisciplinary initiatives that are successfully navigating the current suite of global challenges in the geosciences and demonstrate the value of global partnerships and frameworks.
