In order to ensure the sustainability of nuclear research for a safer and more stable energy supply and the use of radiation to support healthy and prosperous lifestyles into the future, the installation of a disposal repository for “radioactive waste from research facilities” is an urgent issue.
Japan Atomic Energy Agency (JAEA), as the implementation body in charge of the waste disposal project, has been working toward the installation of such a repository, placing the highest priority on safety.
This section describes the details of our disposal project, with emphasis on safety measures. We will try to provide easy-to-understand explanations using panels, models of repository, and videos. We hope you will stop by and visit us.
