KiE is a material in which a SiO5 structure appears by inserting K atoms into amorphous SiO2 and removing K+ ions, and the SiO5 structure becomes semi-permanently negatively charged. Our research group has confirmed the formation of the SiO5 structure in KiE many times through theoretical calculations, but we have not been able to confirm the SiO5 structure experimentally. Therefore, we investigated a method to experimentally confirm the SiO5 structure in KiE using first-principles calculations.
