MoS2 is a 2D semiconductor with a direct/indirect transition band gap of 1.2 to 1.8 eV, therefore, thermionic energy converter with photoassisted operation can be expected to operate at low temperatures and be highly efficient. In addition, electron emission properties are expected to be improved by reducing the effective work function through the co-deposition of Cs/O2 on the MoS2 surface. In this study, photo-assisted thermionic emission properties from the Cs/O2 co-deposited MoS2 surface was measured and evaluated.
