Ferroelectricity,Electrocaloric effect
The electrocaloric effect, in which a ferroelectric material shows a reversible temperature change when an electric field is applied or removed, is expected to be applied as a cooling technology with high power efficiency. Although there are reports of large temperature changes due to the electrocaloric effect in ferroelectric thin films, it is difficult to measure the effect directly because its heat capacity is extremely small compared to the substrate. In most cases, the temperature change has been measured indirectly, thus the correct evaluation of the temperature change has not yet been achieved. The aim of this study is the direct measurement of the electrocaloric effect of ferroelectric thin films by installing a temperature sensor close to the ferroelectric film.
