If the crystallite orientation of the artificial bone surface hydroxyapatite (HAp) has the same orientation as the autogenous bone, the healing period may be shortened. In this study, RF magnetron sputtering was used to fabricate and control the orientation of HAp thin films for artificial bone coating. The deposited film was evaluated by the X-ray Diffraction (XRD), Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM), and Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) analyses. An in-plane oriented monoclinic HAp film was fabricated. The film was Ca-rich and contained functional groups exactly.
