This research investigates the potential of reactive sputtering grown MoS2 as a light absorber of solar cells. Ag/MoS2/Ag structure is fabricated with a laterally oriented 10 nm thick MoS2 film deposited on sapphire. Its electrical conductivity is characterized under dark and AM1.5 G illumination for comparison. Resistance is reduced under illumination due to the photocurrent generation from MoS2. Calculation based on transfer matrix method shows about two times higher absorption in 10 nm thick MoS2 with Ag back mirror. Enhanced absorption due to the reflection from the Ag back contact may account for the reduced resistance under illumination.
