In recent years, the crystal structure and defects/surface states have been controlled to improve photocatalytic activity. In particular, it has been reported that oxygen vacancies significantly affect electronic states and carrier behavior, contributing to the improvement of light absorption efficiency and reactivity. In this study, we focused on oxygen deficient levels among impurity levels. Titanium dioxide thin films were annealed in a hydrogen atmosphere, and the effect of oxygen deficiency control on photocatalytic activity was evaluated from methylene blue fading experiments.
