Luminescence spectroscopy using a scanning tunneling microscope is a unique technique for investigating optical properties with high spatial resolution. However, the time resolution is limited because this method uses a tunneling current as the excitation source. Recently, for overcoming the time resolution of an STM, a THz pulse has been used for achieving ultrafast controlling of the tunneling current. In this work, we tried to combine THz-STM with the STM luminescence technique and succeeded in detecting luminescence from a single molecule.
