We conducted hard X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy measurements to investigate the metal-insulator transition (MIT) observed in λ-phase Ti3O5 thin films. Valence-band spectra were recorded in the temperature range from 200 K to 400 K, which covered the transition temperature of 350 K. A clear change in density of states near the Fermi level was observed across the MIT owing to the spectral weight transfer of Ti 3d states.
