By integrating a cold narrow-band filter adjusted to an absorption wavelength (4.26 µm) of carbon dioxide (CO2) into an infrared camera, CO2 can be optically visualized with high contrast. We applied a continuity equation to a region enclosing the source of the CO2 emission and successfully quantified the CO2 gas emission without the influence of the originally contained CO2 in the atmosphere, irrespective of the gas temperature.
