In this study, we investigated the layered nickelate compound Sr2NiO2Cl2, which has been theoretically predicted to exhibit superconductivity under high-pressure conditions. The compound was synthesized via high-temperature and high-pressure methods, and its electrical resistivity was measured under high-pressure conditions using a diamond anvil cell (DAC). The results revealed that Sr2NiO2Cl2 is an insulator with a resistance exceeding 100 MΩ at ambient pressure and room temperature. Upon the application of pressure, the resistivity decreased.
