One approach to scaling up superconducting or semiconductor quantum computers is optical communication between dilution refrigerators, which has been gaining attention. To convert the microwave electrical signals used to control quantum computers into optical signals for communication, a quantum interface that mediates between microwave and optical quantum states is required. In this presentation, I will discuss an overview of quantum interfaces, global trends, and the development of a quantum interface using diamonds in our research group.
