Brillouin optical fiber sensors are widely used as a means of detecting temperature and tension changes in structures. This research aims to realize highly sensitive Brillouin optical fiber sensors with a sensing length of 100 km class, and aims to apply digital coherent detection technology. In this study, we report on the application of a narrow-linewidth free-running local oscillator with a power output of 9 dBm to a phase diversity optical detector, and the realization of a means to detect the Brillouin phase shift with high sensitivity while regenerating the probe light phase.
