A gaseous medium diffraction grating or diffractive lens can be created by irradiating an ozone mixed gas with a thickness of a few mm to 1 cm with an ultraviolet pulse laser and exciting compressional waves consisting of sound waves and entropy waves in the gas. With diffractive lenses, it has been difficult to make them large-area because the density modulation structure caused by compressional waves takes the form of an unevenly spaced spherical lattice. Here, we report the results of calculations and experiments on increasing the NA by controlling the incident angle of the controlled laser.
