Using the break junction method, we compared the electrical conductivity of Ni norcorrole, which exhibits antiaromatic properties, and Ni porphyrin, which is aromatic, at the molecular level. As a result, it was found that Ni norcorrole has one order of magnitude higher conductivity than Ni porphyrin, and that the decrease in the energy gap contributes to the high conductivity of antiaromatic molecules. Furthermore, it was demonstrated that the electrical conductivity of Ni norcorrole can be tuned by more than two orders of magnitude by designing the metal-molecule interface structure of the molecular junctions.
