The purpose of this study is to clarify the relationship between membrane tension and the sound of the kotsuzumi. The kotsuzumi is a membrane sounding instrument consisting of two membranes and a body assembled with a hemp cord. Focusing on the effect of membrane-body contact conditions on the vibration modes of the membranes, experiments and simulations were conducted on the pressure distribution between the membrane-body and the pressure-induced changes in the vibration modes. The results showed that there exists a pressure distribution between the membrane-body that increases in the direction of tension, and that the fundamental mode frequency changes with the pressure between the membrane-body.
