Since acceptor-type defects easily form in SnS, it does not exhibit n-type conduction without appropriate doping. Although the replacement of Sn2+ sites by Bi3+ has been proposed as an effective way to obtain n-type conduction through theoretical calculations, n-type SnS has not been obtained in experiments using deposition and sulfurization. In this study, we succeeded in fabricating Bi doped n-type SnS by liquid phase growth, which can produce a crystal growth interface close to thermal equilibrium.
