We have developed a synthesis method to obtain metal nitrides using porous coordination polymers. As for metal cations, we have used three types of manganese, iron, and nickel.
We evaluated the magnetic properties of the (Mn, Fe, Ni)N compounds synthesized with different Mn/Fe/Ni ratios, and found that the saturation magnetization increased 1.8 times when Mn:Ni:Fe = 0.10:0.52:0.38 compared to when Mn was not added.
We used first-principles calculations to explore the reason for the increase in saturation magnetization, and found that the magnetic moment is maximized when Mn is present at the center of the crystal lattice.
