Our research group has succeeded in producing highly spherical silicon nanocrystals by heat-treating silicon monoxide above the melting point of silicon (1414 ℃). However, the yield of 90-200 nm particles showing colouration in the visible region is low. In this study, with the aim of increasing the yield of 90-200 nm particles, the annealing conditions for nanocrystal formation by the disproportionation reaction of silicon monoxide were investigated and the effects of annealing temperature and time on the particle size distribution were studied.
