The purpose of this study is to develop a broadband coherent light source for spectroscopy of “molecular fingerprints” in the wavelength region above 6.7 µm (wavenumber below 1500 cm-1). For this purpose, we have used intra-pulse difference frequency generation to convert the frequency of a Cr:ZnS mode-locked laser downward. For highly efficient wavelength conversion, we newly fabricated quasi-phase-matched ZnSe by room-temperature bonding and developed a broadband light source covering the wavelength range of 6.6-14.9 µm by using it.
