In the near-infrared (NIR) region, research on the generation, manipulation, and detection of entangled photons with nearly degenerate frequencies has matured, leading to numerous practical achievements. In contrast, the generation and detection of entangled photons with significantly different frequencies, such as those in the mid-infrared (MIR) and visible regions, remain underdeveloped. In this study, we realized the generation of polarization-entangled photon pairs spanning the MIR and visible regions using a spontaneous parametric down-conversion (SPDC) process under Type-II phase-matching conditions in a PPSLT crystal.
