Fluorescence spectral imaging is a powerful tool for identifying fluorescent molecular species that exhibit fluorescence emission with a spectral overlap to cause cross-talk between the emitted signals, and for detecting subtle spectral shape changes associated with molecular structural variations. In this study, we aimed to enhance the sensitivity of fluorescence spectral imaging by using the fluorescence enhancement effect of grating-coupled surface plasmon resonance (GC-SPR). Fluorescently labeled particles with a diameter of 0.2 µm were dispersed on a plasmonic chip designed to utilize GC-SPR, and their spectral shapes were analyzed for identification.
