CBA-n is a dimer liquid crystal with a molecular structure consisting of two cyanobiphenyl mesogens linked by a flexible chain moiety -O(CH2)nO-. CBA-9,10 is known to exhibit different anisotropic processes during the phase transition corresponding to the conformation of the chain moiety. In this study, we measured the parallel and perpendicular thermal diffusivities of CBA-9,10 dilectors by thermal wave analysis (TWA), and combined with morphological observations by polarized light microscopy, we aim to clarify the anisotropy development process of the dimer liquid crystals.
