Due to their low-dimensional nature, photoinduced electron-hole pairs in monolayer transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDCs) are highly susceptible to defects and many-body interactions. In particular, TMDC monolayers synthesized via chemical vapor deposition (CVD) typically exhibit a relatively high density of inhomogeneously distributed defects. In this study, we visualize local photoinduced dynamics in a CVD-grown WS2 monolayer using ultrafast infrared scattering-type scanning near-field optical microscopy (ultrafast s-SNOM). Our results reveal that this dynamical heterogeneity is responsible for the spatial modulation observed in the optoelectronic response of the material.
