This study aims to detect multiple types of gas molecules using a broadband metamaterial absorber (MMA). An MMA with a dual-metal fin structure surrounding silicon cylinders was fabricated. The fabricated MMA exhibited broadband absorption characteristics in the wavelength range of 2.0–8.5 µm. Gas detection experiments were conducted in mixed gas environments containing methane, butane, carbon dioxide, and dimethyl ether. The signals of each gas molecule were clearly detected while suppressing excess background light. The presentation will also report results obtained using an infrared laser spectroscopy system.
