A recent theory predicts that a bandgap can be formed in graphene by introducing both periodic strain and periodic potential modulation. In this study, we try to implement them through periodic resist structures and a comb-shaped electrode. Using finite element method (FEM) simulations, we confirmed that a sinusoidal potential distribution is generated in graphene by appropriately combining voltages of the comb-shaped electrode and the back-gate. Based on these findings, we designed and fabricated comb-shaped electrodes with a 600 nm period. In the next step, we plan to integrate the electrode with a periodic resist structure, transfer graphene onto the sample, and evaluate its electrical conductivity.
