新しいパワー半導体材料がバリスタやSBDなどの受動素子ではなく、MOSFETなどの能動素子に応用されるには大きな課題が多い。その中でルチル構造二酸化ゲルマニウム(r-GeO2)は、大きな絶縁破壊電界とpn両伝導が予測されており、normally-off型MOSFETへの応用が期待できる。また、酸化ガリウムをフォトニック結晶に応用する事で高効率な分子加熱が可能となるなど、社会実装に向けた新しい応用先があり、これらの研究開発状況について講演する。
