A bactericidal species derived from tryptophan has been discovered as a bactericide for agricultural applications, but a method to control the lifetime of the bactericidal species has not been established. Therefore, we compared the lifetime of the bactericidal species of tryptophan and indole, which have a similar structure to tryptophan. Oxygen radicals were irradiated onto a solution whose temperature was controlled to be constant, and the bactericidal effect of the treated solution was investigated. The results suggested that the bactericidal species derived from indole has a shorter lifetime than that of tryptophan.
