While elemental analysis using X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy (XRF) has been conventionally employed for the provenance determination of earthenware, this study demonstrates the feasibility of utilizing CO2 laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (CO2-LIBS) for the same purpose. By employing clay reference materials previously analyzed by XRF, quantitative elemental analysis, including K-Ca and Rb-Sr plots, can be achieved using CO2-LIBS. The implementation of magnetic confinement and vacuum conditions enables highly accurate quantitative analysis.
