Photovoltaic modules using honeycomb were fabricated and the thermal property of the cells were evaluated by using latent heat storage material (PCM).Modules were fabricated by encapsulation in an electric furnace. The PCM was filled into the lower honeycomb. The cells were exposed to 1 kW/m² of light for 30 minutes in a solar simulator and the temperature of the cells was measured during this time. The results showed that the use of PCM suppressed the temperature increase rate of the cell by a factor of about 1/2 until it reached 50 °C. The temperature increase rate was also suppressed by a factor of about 1/3 by mixing a high thermal conductive material in the PCM layer.
