Inertial Electrostatic Confinement Fusion (IECF) is expected to be used mainly as a compact neutron source. While studying the performance of linear IECF devices, we tuned the neutron flux density to about 5 × 102 cm-2s-1 and irradiated quartz crystal resonators with 2.45 MeV neutrons as thermal neutrons through a 40 mm thick polyethylene block. The frequency of all resonators changed by less than 7 Hz before and after irradiation from 100 to 1000 s, but no correlation was found between the resonator frequency and the neutron fluence.
