neutron measurement

To identify the neutron background source in high-energy accelerator facilities, measurement of neutron directions was performed at the top of the concrete shield above the KL experimental area at J-PARC. A fast-neutron imager consisting of 17 pieces of lithium glass and a polyethylene moderator was used as a neutron detector. Neutrons passing upward from below the concrete shield were observed by measuring for 10 minutes with a beam intensity of 81 kW, demonstrating that the fast-neutron imager can be used to identify the neutron source in high-energy accelerator facilities.
