Ultrashort pulsed lasers with short pulse widths and high peak intensities are capable of unique processing, such as rapid heating and quenching phenomena. In this study, laser irradiation of Fe, Cr and Ni deposited on sapphire substrates at several parameters yielded results that could have produced binary alloy oxides and Cr/Fe.
